What is the Role?
The Regional Commissioner oversees the day-to-day operations of an AYSO region, ensuring that all activities align with AYSO’s mission and vision. This position allows you to manage a passionate group of volunteers, facilitate the smooth operation of the region, and guide the development of young athletes while building strong community connections.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Regional Commissioner, your core responsibilities will include:
• Leading and Managing: Oversee the operation of your AYSO region, including budgeting, volunteer coordination, and maintaining AYSO's standards and policies.
• Team Building: Appoint essential leadership roles within the region, such as Treasurer, Safety Director, Regional Coach Administrator, and more.
• Fostering Community Engagement: Ensure that the region’s activities align with AYSO’s mission, ensuring a fun and inclusive experience for all participants.
• Financial Oversight: Manage and oversee the region's finances, including fee collection, budgeting, and financial reporting to the National Office.
• Problem-Solving: Act as a mediator in resolving disputes, ensuring a positive and supportive environment for everyone involved.
• Networking and Growth: Maintain strong relationships with the Area Director, Section Director, and other regional leaders to ensure the region stays connected to the larger AYSO community.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the Regional Commissioner role, you should:
• Be committed to AYSO’s mission and values
• Have strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Be able to manage multiple responsibilities and work effectively with volunteers and families
• Be ready to dedicate approximately 12 hours per week during the soccer season
Training and Support:
We provide comprehensive training to ensure you’re fully prepared for success:
• Orientation and Training: Including Regional Commissioner-specific training, Safe Haven certification, dispute resolution, and more (total of 40+ hours of training).
• Ongoing Education: Stay up to date with annual updates and opportunities for continued growth and development.
• Hands-on Support: You’ll be supported by the 20+ Active AYSO 498 Board Members, an Area Director and other regional leaders, ensuring you have the guidance needed to thrive in this position.
